Por primera vez, la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos abrió sus puertas al Observatorio de Racismo en México y Centroamérica, entre otras organizaciones del continente americano, a una audiencia temática sobre el racismo en la movilidad humana. Jessie Valcin, organizadora de la comunidad haitiana, representó a Espacio Migrante, haciendo su disertación en base a su propia experiencia y en representación de las mujeres haitianas en México.
For the first time, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights opened its doors to the Observatory of Racism in Mexico and Central America, among other organizations of the American continent, to a thematic hearing on racism and human mobility. Jessie Valcin, organizer of the Haitian community, represented Espacio Migrante, making her dissertation based on her own experience and representing Haitian women in Mexico.
Los testimonios se centraron en las barreras racistas que enfrentan los migrantes en América. La audiencia se realizó como parte del 186.to Periodo Regular de Sesiones de la CIDH del 6-10 de marzo de 2023 en el Centro de Convenciones Luskin de UCLA en Los Ángeles.
Es la primera vez que el organismo se reúne en esa ciudad.
The testimonies are central to the racist barriers facing migrants in America. The hearing was held as part of the 186th Regular Period of Sessions of the CIDH from March 6-10, 2023 at the UCLA Luskin Convention Center in Los Angeles.
It is the first time that the organization has met in that city.
Fue un momento en que líderes en Estados Unidos propusieron prohibir el asilo, lo que afectará desproporcionadamente a los migrantes de color e indígenas que transitan por todo el continente en busca de protección en nuestra frontera sudoeste, esta histórica audiencia es sumamente oportuna. It was a moment in which the leaders of the United States proposed to ban asylum, which will disproportionately affect the migrants of color and indigenous people who transit throughout the continent in search of protection in our southwestern border, this historic hearing is extremely timely. As part of the program, defenders and migrants detailed conclusions, data and personal testimonies of the toxic connection between race and migration throughout the continent.
